✿ the lore ✿
Hi, I'm Danyel Poindexter, but everyone calls me Dannie! I'm the creator & founder of Create-O Potatoe®. I want adults to know that they can still be a kid at heart, that it's not our fault we had to grow up early and work when we should have been enjoying being a kid.
And to the children who fall in love with my art, keep being a child. Laugh, cry, smile, frown, and most importantly, make mistakes.
I actually graduated with a Bachelor's in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. My goal was to become a fantasy/fiction based author, but my constant need of more creative outlets brought me back to my first love: art. With no plans on actually making my art a business, in the middle of college, I delved back into it, only taking the fun classes for "the joy of the moment." But as I created concepts of contemporary dance pieces on cloth, creativity body interpretation pieces, and colorful experiments of paint chips and pastel, I realized I was in deeper than I thought.
Thus, post graduation, I worked the jobs I needed to save up, with a plan to expand my art. Eventually I found my niche and what is now Create-O Potatoe, focusing on the joyous parts of childhood I grew up to fast to get to completely experience. I understood that what I wanted was to combine the world of whimsy that I live in, in my mind and show it to others. And while I was told (too many times, in fact) that I should make my art "less white," I stood my ground of direction. My original characters are a prime example, embodying every version of my personality that makes me who I am.
My goodies have a cozy home away from home! Come say hi, squish the stickers, and meet the besties in person.
